I hope everybody had a Merry Christmas and Very Happy New Year.

I noticed the last time I wrote something was way back in November. Since then:

The Scouts and Macaiomh enjoyed a day in Kilcully Campsite where the learnt semaphore, rope-bridge building and played lots of games.
The Venturers have held a very successful Christmas Party for the county.
The Venturers went to Dublin between Christmas Day and New Years.

We’ve an exciting programme planned for the New Year and lots of eager Scouts, Macaiomh and Venturers. Don’t forget to check our facebook page for smaller updates and other fun things.

Awards Night 2010

Last Wednesday was our annual awards night. Each year it gets more and more impressive and traditionally we held the premier of the camp video.

Scout On Camp

This award goes to the scout who enjoyed camp the most, behaved the best and the leaders agreed to be th

e best. Although all the scouts on camp deserved an award for their excellent behavior one was common to all the leaders lists. Shane Hopkins.

Inter Patrol Competition

Every day on camp the patrols were being marked on; behavior, hygiene, teamwork and other activities. As with the scout on camp it was very close. The Inter Patrol competition award 2010 is awarded to the Falcon Patrol with PL Adam Korneluk.

PL of the Year

The PL of the year is the PL who shows leadership properties, can organise their patrol and represent their patrol and their troop well. The PL of the year 2010 goes to Kevin Corcoran.

One last thing…

As I’m sure you’re aware over the last few weeks there’e been a huge amount of work done on the hall. Lots of people have been helping out, donating there free time and skills. This year a special award was given to the leader who dedicated so much of his time to scouting and working on the hall. Michael Phillips was the leader who put in the most work. As with all of the other awards it was a really close as all of the leaders have been working very hard.

The work on the hall is done!

After weeks of work and lots of favors being called in the work on the hall is finally finished (for now). Over the last few weeks we’ve fitted and varnished new cupboards at the end of the hall, Removed the old benches, Gotten 30 new chairs, Put in a new carpet, Painted the hall, Concreted the side storage area, and put the old carpet upstairs and in the “boathouse”.

A big thank-you to everyone who’s been putting in their free time to help us get the hall into good condition. The hall’s ready for a Coffee Night for the Bons Hospital next Tuesday and our Awards Night next Wednesday.
